Ok so Fanfiction.net. Homestuck writers. Listen to my problems.
So, in the rules and guidelines to Fanfiction.net it says…
Entries not allowed:
- Non-stories: lists, bloopers, polls, previews, challenges, author notes, and etc.
- One or two liners.
- MST: comments inserted in between the flow of a copied story.
- Stories with non-historical and non-fictional characters: actors, musicians, and etc.
- Any form of interactive entry: choose your adventure, second person/you based, Q&As, and etc.
- Chat/script format and keyboard dialogue based entries.
So, being a Homestuck nerd and a writer, I like writing about Homestuck characters. Shocking! And, when writing in this fandom, I write in second person/you based which, I’m sure most of us familiar with this fandom know, a lot of Homestuck writers like to put their stories in because, hey, that’s how Homestuck is written.
I was not even aware of the problem until a lovely troll came along and felt the need to be rude, saying “Go to hell with this crap.” and proceeding to threaten me about it, saying, “This will be reported and you’ll get your account banned if you don’t remove it” blah blah blah I’m a jerk hear me roar. And then another came along to leave a review on another of my Homestuck fanfics, he was actually less of a jerk so whatever. I know, the internet is full of rude people, grow a skin, it doesn’t hurt my delicate flower feelings I’m just worried some idiot is going to report me for a really stupid reason.
But I still don’t think it’s a problem. Yes, the rules say no second person but am I the only one who thinks that the rule is worded badly and that they really mean the silly fanfics for people who want to feel like an actual character or whatever? It says no second person, of course, but there’s a difference between interactive second person and regular old second person.
When I checked there’s a lot of other fanfictions being targeted by these idiots too so I’m going to assume I’m not the only frustrated person who just wants to write silly fanfictions and not worry about trolls??? Im done now. And not sorry.
